an idealized ego that denies reality.
My name is Aminata Sillah and I am the founder of Bridging Africa. Bridging Africa is a non profit organization that aims to aid students in rural Africa. In the past three years, I have visited different provinces in The Gambia and Ghana. As I traveled throughout the countries, I have noticed one thing that unites the children: Education.
When I speak with these children, they have high aspirations. They want to become doctors, nurses, astronauts, pilots, ambassadors and much more. Their living conditions are poor and they sometimes have to worry about their next meal but when they are in school, all of the children are eager to learn. It is as if all their troubles are pushed aside and school is the only place they want to be. Seeing the twinkle in their eye as they sit in the handmade chairs and desks, often overcrowding them makes my heart cry. This is what inspired me to start Bridging Africa.
I had a hunch that schools in New York City would throw away their used books when they receive funding from the government. I had a hunch that the books they were throwing away were in good to excellent condition. I had a hunch that if I were to contact them and ask them to donate them instead, they will be more than willing to do so. Boy, I did not know what blessings I was tapping into!
Aside from getting more than 150+ boxes of books that are in good condition, I received lots of laptops, computers, printers, smartboards, scanners, headphones, clothes, medical supplies, desks, chairs, and other equipment. I was fortunate enough to send a 40ft container full of these items to rural Gambia, West Africa last year. This year, I am fortunate to be able to ship another 40ft container; this time, I would like to send the educational resources to rural Senegal.
From collecting the items all throughout schools in New York City to shipping them can be very costly. In fact, I acquired another job just to try to cover some of the costs however, this time around I am unable to. This is why I am calling on your help to get these resources to that doctor, nurse, astronaut, pilot and ambassador. I do not want this important initiative to fade just because of monetary constraints. The educational resources will be given to schools for free so that students can use them for generations to come.
Please donate what you can and let’s make a difference!

Dear Prospective Donors,
PLEASE SUPPORT MY HISTORIC TRAVEL TO AFRICA FOR A TRANSFORMATIVE INITIATIVE
You’ll agree with that, undoubtedly, Africa is still a mystery place to most people including African themselves, despite being the birthplace of humankind and the cradle of civilization. Hence, to be effectively persuasive to sell Daylight Africa Week globally, I have decided to acclimate myself (the founder) with the continent by personally traveling to all its counties within twelve month, between Africa Day 2022 and Africa Day 2023.
My travel itinerary shall be done regionally. East Africa, Southern Africa, Central Africa, North Africa, and then West Africa.
The total budget from start to finish is about:Â Two Hundred Fifty Two Thousand ($252,000) dollars. I am therefore seeking donations and sponsorships in order to meet this goal by May 25, 2022, the scheduled start date.
I would be extremely honored to meet this fundraising goal prior to departing. This historic journey is slated to commence on Thursday, May 26, 2022 with a major press conference in front of the African Union Mission to the United Nations in New York City.
Thank you all in advance!
